Description: The parallel government of Sudan, the Tassis Alliance, headed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), claimed responsibility for the attacks conducted in several cities across Khartoum State, which is under control of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The SAF confirmed that an oil refinery was struck in Al – Jaili, while electricity plants were targeted in Al – Markhiyat and a substation in the city of Omdurman. Military factories were also targeted by drones in Al – Kalakla district and in the Wadi Seidna military area, hampering capacities and production capabilities in Sudan’s capital. The RSF claimed the attacks were a response to SAF’s targeting hospitals and civilians in the Darfur region in last month’s clashes.
Impact: Sudan’s civil war lacking international resolve continues to inflict massive casualties and desperate humanitarian conditions. The latest attacks from the RSF demonstrates the group’s increased warfare capabilities but limited operational outreach, as drone attacks haven’t been a frequent feature or a method in their military operations that often. The SAF’s push in the central parts of the country have so far been with little to no effect as neither side currently possess the capabilities to militarily prevail over the other. The UN despite repeated pointing out of the deteriorating conditions in the country, is incapable of intervening due to its limited financial capacities and internal power struggles between rival countries such as the US, China and Russia. The country’s evident resolution to the civil war currently resides in territorial dissolution as both groups lead parallel governments in different parts of the country.
