Description: French President Emmanuel Macron visited his South Korean counterpart, Lee Jae Myung, in his ad – hoc Asia summit, following the crisis in the Middle East. The leaders agreed on several fields of cooperation while issuing a joint statement that supported the UK – led initiative for international involvement in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, issued later last week. Macron and Lee agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in critical fields such as nuclear energy supply lines, artificial intelligence, exploration of critical minerals and offshore wind projects. Description: Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted the Al – Jabalain medical facility located in the West Nile province, killing more than 10 civilians and injuring additional 19. The attack on the hospital was conducted in two waves as civilians were being evacuated from the first drone attack, the second wave of explosions trapped the rescuing medical personnel. Another medical supply depot in Rabak, the capital of White Nile, was also targeted although no casualties were reported. Description: US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has criticized China for economic bullying in the Panama canal after China detained for inspection more than 100 vessels under the Panamanian flag. Earlier this year, Panama’s constitutional court ruled against the Chinese CK Hutchinson, which held the ports in Balboa and Cristobal, and deemed their ownership unconstitutional, effectively banning the Chinese company from managing the ports. Description: General Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army (LNA) has reportedly procured a new batch of Chinese Feng Long F – 1 and TB2 combat drones, violating the UN arms embargo on the country imposed in 2011. Haftar rules much of eastern and southern Libya while the internationally recognized government in Tripoli holds much of the west and northern parts of the country. Description: In a virtual meeting chaired by the British foreign secretary, Yvette Cooper, 40 nations launched a joint initiative to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, following Iran’s blockade due to the attacks from the US and Israel. Cooper stated that all countries would jointly devise means using all economic and diplomatic means at their disposal to force Iran to lift the blockade. Description: The ISIS – affiliated Allied Democratic Forces militant group attacked a village in the Mambasa village in the Ituri province, killing more than 50 civilians and torching more than 43 places of residence.
