Description: The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has severed diplomatic ties with Rwanda over allegations of sponsorship of the armed conflict and the M23 rebel group. The Congolese army alongside the UN’s peacekeeping force MONUSCO have unsuccessfully tried to repel the M23 as it recently advanced to a key strategic town in the eastern parts of the country called Goma. The UN Security Council has rescheduled their meeting for next Sunday as concerns were raised about escalation to the point of an all-out war between the parties involved. Description: The US has allegedly thwarted a recent planned attack by ISIS members in Damascus and also expanded intelligence cooperation with the current de – facto Syrian leadership under Hay’ at Tahrir al – Sham (HTS). The HTS were formerly designated as a terrorist organization by the US as they had deepened extremist ties, but since the overthrow of Bashar al – Assad, Ahmed al – Sharaa, current HTS leader has undertaken the leadership role within the Syrian government. Description: With the armed conflict in Sudan intensifying, the Sudanese Army has claimed victory over the RSF (Rapid Support Forces) in the capital of Khartoum. The claims were immediately denied by RSF officials who blamed the Army for spreading false information and propaganda in order to boost morale. The Sudanese Army claimed they have overtaken the Khartoum Bahri region after a siege imposed by RSF forces was broken into and neutralized. Description: US – briefed sources have cited that Hamas has filled their ranks with additional 15,000 fighters since the beginning of the war in 2023. The numbers attested to the fact that the terrorist organization constant recruitment efforts and human capital enabled them to lead the perpetual war in the region. Hamas hasn’t still been defeated militarily as it was shown in the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire where militants from the terrorist group filled the streets to secure the incoming aid and provide assistance to the civilians. The raised numbers of recruited soldiers although young, could empower Hamas in the future war efforts in Gaza and the West Bank.
Description: Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has threatened to block the next round of EU sanctions against Russia if and whether the Ukrainian gas pipeline isn’t made operational once again. He blamed both EU and Ukraine for inflicting serious economic damage to Hungary since the country has been strongly dependent on Russian natural gas. Orban also blamed the Ukrainian military for the disruption of gas through the Turkish Stream pipeline, which according to him has been attacked and sabotaged more than once. Description: German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has announced that Germany has deployed two air defense patriot units to Poland which would be operational by Monday. The Patriot units would be deployed close to the Ukrainian – Polish border in Jasionka, to protect the airspace in the region as the constant threat of the Russia – Ukraine war spiling over the Polish border intensifies. Description: The rebel armed group M23 has reported the seizure of Sake town as they continue their untethered advance towards the city of Goma which is considered as eastern Congo’s regional hub for security and humanitarian operations. The UN also raised concerns over conflict escalation and possible open war between DR Congo and Rwanda as the latter have been accused of directly supporting the M23 rebel group and have around 4,000 troops in military personnel on Congolese territory. Description: The armed conflict in Sudan further intensifies as the Sudanese military clashed with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) near an oil refinery close to the capital Khartoum. Fighting was also reported in the province of El – Fasher and the northern parts of Khartoum.
