Description: The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) conducted drone strikes on the Adukong border crossing with Chad killing three Chadian citizens and injuring a dozen civilians. According to regional emergency hospitals, this was the fifth drone strike that the SAF has conducted in the past week targeting the border crossing with Chad where the RSF is receiving military support from the UAE in the form of mercenaries and military equipment. The villages of Bir Daqiq and Habilla in the Darfur region were also targeted, however, no casualties have been reported. The Adukong border crossing has been previously used to deliver humanitarian aid in east Sudan, however, the RSF has repurposed the crossing and used it as a supply route for troops and equipment.

Impact: The extensive use of drones in the war is expected to increase on both as the war enters its fourth year, which would highly likely extend hostilities and retract any diplomatic resolves currently in motion. Humanitarian aid would likely cease to be delivered in the country as supply routes are being constantly targeted due to presence by RSF troops. The attack likely increases the possibility of the civil war expanding across Chad, which has so far remained reserved in its response due to its close ties with the RSF. The civil war’s continuation demonstrates that humanitarian pledges through international conferences such as the one held in Berlin are futile and purely symbolic without direct diplomatic pressure and constant UN presence in the country.
