Description: Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Army expanded the frontlines by targeting the Al Mujlad Hospital located in West Kordofan near the main battlefront between the warring parties. The attack reportedly instigated by the Sudanese Army left more than 40 people dead and several injured as the official statement claimed the Army targeted RSF members in the vicinity of the medical facility. The World Health Organization alongside the UN have repeatedly warned of the ravaging humanitarian crisis in the country, caused by the war which began in 2023. The clashes between the warring parties enter their third year as neither party has consolidated enough power to prevail in the conflict.

Impact: The Sudanese civil war continues to inflict humanitarian and security crises of alarming proportions with no indication of cessation in hostilities. The Army and the RSF are separately supported by foreign states and private actors through arms shipments, logistical support and intelligence, as neither side has the capacity to prevail. The war has so far caused an extended refugee crisis, with most affected regions suffering consequences such as famine and reported atrocities such as sexual violence targeting children. The lack of international involvement towards conceptualizing a peace initiative coupled with the financial shortages within the aid and humanitarian sectors globally, would extend the dimensions of the conflict causing further devastation and substantial expansion of armed clashes.
