Description: The Chinese government has introduced the new Type 041 air propulsion nuclear powered submarine. The newest addition to the Chinese navy would be apparently used for near shore operations and its initial technological characteristics have shown that it could remain submerged for approximately a month without recharging. Type 041 was initially introduced as a boat which according to satellite imagery sank in April 2024, whilst the Chinese government was expected to repair it. By introducing the near shore submarine, China would aim to reclaim its military clout in the Western Pacific region as the submarine considerably improves Chinese navy capabilities.
