Description: The US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) with a six to three decision in favor overruled a previous decision by a lower court which allowed illegal migrants an opportunity to contest their deportations to third countries such as South Sudan. US President Donald Trump in his migration and immigration crackdowns caused civil upheaval accentuated through the protest all across the country. The Supreme Court’s decision allows Trump to continue to deport migrants to undisclosed locations and countries the migrants had no connection with. Currently there are up to 8 deportees residing in a US military base in Djibouti under suspicion of having a criminal background after another court decision was reversed which meant to send the migrants to South Sudan. SCOTUS last month also allowed Trump to end the so – called Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelan nationals residing in the US. The decision affected more than 350 thousand migrants and solidified another victory for the US President in his pursuit of massive deportations.

Impact: SCOTUS’s decision singles out the monopoly of political power and influence the Republican Party in the US currently enforces, causing ripple effects towards substantial civil and political crises. The US justice system is crumbling under the political pressure caused by the Trump administration reversing decisions from lower courts while diminishing constitutionally guaranteed rights and civil liberties. Another US Court recently allowed Trump to maintain executive control over the National Guard troops and the Marines deployed in LA, unilaterally intensifying the immigration crackdown and putting migrants and immigrants in a judicial no man’s land. The US is currently heading towards an irreversible path towards expansion of the civil and political crisis, caused by Trump’s illegal enforcement of massive deportations.
