Description: More than 100 thousand anti – migration protesters swarmed the streets of London as they marched against the country’s immigration policies and the growing issues caused by the overwhelming number of asylum seekers. The protests, organized by far – right activist Stephen Christopher Yaxley – Lennon or popularly known as Tommy Robinson, caught the London Metropolitan police by surprise as they struggled to contain the demonstrations. More than 30 people were arrested while up to 26 police officers were reported to have been injured. Immigration has become the leading subject of political unrest in the UK, as Prime Minister Starmer faces mounting opposition from far – right Reform party as he struggles to effectively resolve UK’s immigration issues.

Impact: The large number of protesters demonstrates the levels of civil unrest and disapproval in the UK as the country’s main domestic political and social problem. Prime Minister Starmer has been faced with domestic challenges ranging from migration to political scandals, government reshuffling and the country’s stagnant economy. The unrest, primarily originating from far – right elements in the country is shaping a wider opposition towards Starmer’s migration policies, which are continuously proving to be ineffective. The civil response to the crisis portrayed through protests would continue in the upcoming period, potentially spreading across other areas of socio – economic issues which indicates prolonged period of instability threatening to transform into a large – scale political crisis.
