Description: The latest clashes between the Sudanese military forces supported by a military fraction comprised of Arab militants called the Joint Forces further plunged the country towards humanitarian devastation and a prolonged military crisis. The RSF recently managed to push the Joint Forces from the trilateral border region between Sudan, Libya and Egypt as it continues to push towards el -Fasher in the Darfur province. The war has so far inflicted irreparable humanitarian crisis causing massive refugee waves which have displaced more than 14 million people. The most recent peace initiative in London delivered no concrete proposals as most of the leadership from the warring parties was absent. Funding from international organizations such as the UN has significantly reduced, followed by the US abandonment of financing such initiatives which additionally contributed towards the devastating humanitarian crisis.

Impact: The Sudanese war has entered a new dimension of atrocious warfare as no rapprochement, or any significant progress has been made in bringing the conflicting sides to the negotiating table. The military and the RSF supported by foreign actors such as Egypt, Turkey, UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia continue the power struggle as proxy extensions of regional influential actors which are aiming at expanding their orbit of influence. With no resolutions and limited involvement from the international community coupled with significantly depleted funding on humanitarian and refugee affairs, the Sudanese war is expected to continue in the mid to long – term delivering a revolving wave of destabilization and prolonging the already existing crises in the region.
